Flagship developments include Festival Leisure and Business Park in Basildon, Essex, a 100 acre development with 750,000 sq ft of space making it one of the biggest stand-alone leisure parks in the UK. From its home at the heart of the Leeds, Scotfield is also responsible for The Gateway, a striking development which has now become a landmark shape on the former Howarth Timber Site on Crown Point Road, Leeds. The scheme comprises 550 apartments, 50,000 sq ft of office and commercial space, 218 bedroom hotel and 500 underground car parking spaces. Scotfield Group’s Chairman and Managing Director, Martin Rapley, used his drive and enthusiasm to obtain planning permission for the scheme in less than 9 months which enabled work on site to commence within 12 months from its beginning stages.
In more recent years, Scotfield has become involved in strategic land acquisition, obtaining planning permission for 230 new homes on Greenbelt land near J40 M1 in Dewsbury and 213 new homes, together with a 210,000 sq ft business park, in a 45 acre Greenfield site close to J24 M62 Huddersfield. In 2014, Scotfield worked in partnership with IKEA to obtain planning permission for a new 400,000 sq ft IKEA superstore adjacent to Meadowhall Shopping Centre, Sheffield.
